Wilma Lee (Beal) Hinant

     Wilma Lee Hinant, age 79 of Harrisburg, passed away at 8:18 PM, Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Harrisburg Medical Center.

     Wilma was born on May 7, 1943 to the late Kelly and Dorothy Lee (Towery) Beal.  On August 7, 1964 she married Harry G. Hinant and he preceded her in death on September 21, 2006.  Wilma was a retired prison guard for Illinois Youth Center Harrisburg.  She was a member of AFSME Council 31 Union.  Wilma was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed spending her free time at Harrisburg Lake.  She loved her grandkids.  Wilma was loved and respected by all her coworkers.  She didn’t know a stranger and made friends with anybody.

     Wilma is survived by two children, son, Ronald Beal of Marion; daughter, Sherry Bishop and husband Perry of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Alexis Leigh Bishop and fiancé, Kory Hise of Harrisburg; Walker Koby Bishop of Harrisburg; brother, Darol Beal and wife Carolyn of Harrisburg; brother, Lucian Beal and MaryAnn of Harrisburg; brother, Kelley Joe Beal and wife Kay of Harrisburg; sister-in-law, Ann Hinant; many nieces and nephews that she loved; and “Best Friend” Penny.

     In addition to her parents and husband Harry, Wilma was preceded in death by her daughter, Dana Lee Hinant; special friend, Everett Earl Williams; sister, Mary Herring and husband Jim; brother-in-law, Arthur Hinant and wife Carlene; and brother-in-law, David Hinant.

     Funeral Services for Wilma Lee Hinant will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Dale Martin will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to North America Baptist Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
