William "Red" Virgil Hunt

     With quiet strength and unwavering love, William Virgil 'Budge' 'Red' Hunt passed peacefully into God's care on Saturday, May 30, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Frances King; Children, Jerry Hunt (wife Barb), father to Daniel Hunt and Joe Hunt; David "Bub" Hunt (wife April), father to Ashley Marks and Rachel Gilbert; Lesia Thomas, mother to Michael William Thomas and Kresna Elam; and James Hunt, his youngest son. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.

     Red is additionally survived by his siblings: John Hunt, father to Ryne and Shannon Hunt of Harrisburg; Margaret Singleton, mother to Sherry Singelton Morris (Gordon) and Jerry Arthur Singleton of Pekin, Illinois; Phyllis Hathaway, mother to Mike, Randy and Lynn Hathaway of Harrisburg; and Sharon Tarlton (Tenney), mother to Brian Tucker and Angie Ashford of Equality.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur and Iva Lea (Sullivan) Hunt; his siblings Lowell Hunt, father to Alan, Steve and Sheila Hunt, Sybil Ewell, mother to Karen Ewell Coats, Ronnie Ewell, Joe Hunt, father to Phillip, Scotty and Art Hunt, Donna Rector, mother to Scott and Sean Rector and Jack Hunt, father to Shaina Craig, Natalie Vaughn and Jay Hunt of Harrisburg; and his granddaughter Trisha Dawn Hunt.

     Red loved talking about the weather, mowing a perfect lawn, growing one of the finest gardens, and listening to bluegrass and gospel hymns. He treasured the bond he shared with his brothers and sisters and filled our lives with strength, humor, and stories from his childhood.

His legacy is one of resilience, hard work, and great strength. Though we grieve his absence, we take comfort knowing he rests in God's peace — and we'll honor him by keeping our feet steady, our faith strong, and our yards neat enough to make him smile.

     Funeral services for William Virgil "Budge" "Red" Hunt will be held at 4 PM, on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.  Rev. Doug Uzzle will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3 PM to 5 PM, on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Saline County Senior Citizens and will be received at the church.
