William "Bill" Turner Obituary

William “Bill” Mack Turner, age 87, of Harrisburg, passed away on February 24, 2024 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by his family.

Bill was born on June 20, 1936 to Gus and Nellie (Mifflin) Turner in Williamson County.  On July 2, 1956 he married the former Shirley Martin and was blessed with 67 ½ years of marriage. They resided happily in Pankeyville for over 60 years.  Bill worked at GTE for 38 years as a Cable Splicer and later as an Equipment Installer. He was a long-standing member of the Buena Vista Community Church in Harrisburg and enjoyed serving his church for more than 60 years. He liked vintage cars and going to car shows. Bill and his wife loved working in their yard together. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, taking many trips over the years along the Blue Ridge Parkway with his friends. He always looked forward to deer hunting with his brothers and his grandson over the years. Bill was a good husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He always had a joke ready to share and he loved spending time with his family during get togethers. Bill was very proud of his family and was always ready to brag on his grandson.

Bill is survived by his wife Shirley of Harrisburg, two daughters, Debbie Turner of Harrisburg and Vickie Turner of Clinton Township, Michigan; grandson, Dr. Jeremy Klope and wife, Molly of Paducah, Kentucky; two great grandsons, Graham Klope and Noah Klope of Paducah, Kentucky; one brother, Steve Turner of Carrier Mills; and one brother-in-law, Jim Martin and wife Judy of Chrisman, Illinois. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mildred Gates, two brothers, Lee Tuner and Bob Turner.
