Wanda "Toots" Apple

Wanda “Toots” Apple, age 99, of Harrisburg, passed away at 4:40 AM, Tuesday,

January 10, 2023, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

     Wanda was born on March 21, 1923 in Enfield to the late Aaron and Jesse (Fairchild) Biggerstaff. On October 7, 1944 she married Max Apple and he preceded her in death on April 22, 2014.

     Wanda was a homemaker and a member of Equality First United Methodist Church.  

     Wanda is survived by two sons, Don Apple and wife Karen of Newburgh, Indiana; and Roger Apple and wife Donna of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Melanie Mayo of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Scott Apple and wife Misty of Ball Ground, Georgia; Aaron Apple and wife Nicole of Harrisburg and Austin Apple and wife Lyndsi of Harrisburg; five great granddaughters, Taylor Douglass and husband Matthew, Halee Barnes, Madison Apple, Lilly Apple and Emmery Apple; two great grandsons, Harrison Apple and Royce Apple; two great-great grandsons, Wyatt and Lee; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Barbre of Carmi.

     In addition to her husband Max, and her parents, Wanda was preceded by two sisters, LaVerne Eckroth and LaVere Edwards.

     Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM, Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg with funeral services immediately following at 1 PM. Rev. Dr. Thomas Logsdon will officiate and burial will follow in Enfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisburg United Methodist Women.
