Violet Rose (Barger) Phipps

     Violet Rose (Barger) Phipps, age 73, of Harrisburg, passed away at 10:38 AM, Saturday, May 8, 2021 at her residence.

     Violet was born on February 2, 1948, to the late Wilburn Coy and Rosalee (Keneipp) Barger.  On November 6, 1966, Violet married Cornelious “Corny” Phipps.  Violet was a homemaker, and a member of Dorrisville Social Brethren Church.  She loved to knit, sew and quilt.  She loved her pets, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.  She raised four great boys.  She was a great wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother.

     Violet is survived by her husband, Cornelious “Corny” Phipps; four sons, Jeff Phipps and wife Sally of Harrisburg; Steven Phipps and wife Shaleen of Newburgh, Indiana; Mike Phipps and wife Alyson of Harrisburg; Ben Phipps and wife Melissa of Marion; eight grandchildren, Emily Phipps and fiancé Tyler Campbell; Amy Mott and husband Nick; Matthew Phipps and wife Emma; Nathan Phipps and wife Lacey; Rebekah O’Risky and husband Austin; Isaac Phipps and wife Briana; Andrew Phipps; and Eli Phipps; seven great grandchildren, Elise and Silas Mott; Kamryn, Emersyn and Parker Phipps; Addyson and Zoey O’Risky; sister, Joyce Diefenbach of Benton, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 5 PM at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.  Ben Phipps will officiate; burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery at Carrier Mills.  Visitation will be held from 3 PM to 5 PM at Reed Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.  Memorial contributions may be made to Palestine Cemetery.
