Velna Faye "Dee" (Ozee) Dobbs

     Velna Faye “Dee” Dobbs, age 90 of Harrisburg, formerly of Karber’s Ridge, passed away at 8:50 AM, Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehab Center in Carrier Mills.

     Dee was born on March 15, 1931 in Hardin County, Illinois to the late Tim and Myrtle (Potts) Ozee. She married Jesse “Tommy” Thomas Dobbs on May 7, 1949 and he preceded her in death on March 14, 1968. Dee was the Post Master for Karber’s Ridge Post Office for many years. After her retirement, she earned her CNA license and worked caring for the elderly. She attended the Harrisburg First Church of God. She deeply loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, and visiting with her neighbors.

     Dee is survived by four grandchildren, Keely Wright, Nathan Dobbs, and Jarred Dobbs all of Shawneetown and Kaydee Dobbs of Brookport, Illinois; two great grandchildren, Kate Wright and Ava Wright of Shawneetown; and several nieces and nephews.

     Dee was preceded in death by her husband, “Tommy”, parents, Tim and Myrtle Dobbs, son, Thomas Deon Dobbs; son, Dennis Dobbs; sister, Vernita Colbert; sister, Vevith Hobbs; sister, Versia Derringer; and a brother, Glenn Ozee.

     Funeral services for Velna Faye “Dee” Dobbs will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rev. Stan Pennell will officiate and burial will follow in Leamington Cemetery at Karber’s Ridge. Visitation will be held from 12 PM to 2 PM, Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.
