Tony Leon Mason, age 68 of Eldorado, passed away from his battle with Leukemia at 12:55 AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis surrounded by his family.
Tony was born on May 10, 1957 in Harrisburg, Illinois to the late Charles Leland and Betty Lewis (Pringle) Mason Sr. On January 12, 2001 he married Janis “Dee” Cooley and she survives in Eldorado. Tony worked as a Lineman for Southeastern Illinois Electric Coop from 1986 - 2015. Tony loved to travel, cook, and entertaining; he was a good BBQ griller. He enjoyed spending time with his family by the pool. Tony loved to sing country western music. He attended Logan Elementary, Malan Jr. High and was a member of Harrisburg High School Class of 1975. At an early age he was baptized by Rev. W.J. Moore at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Most recently he was a member of First Christian Church of Eldorado. We shall ever remember all the precious memories by all who knew him. He has joined the heavenly host in heaven of his grandparents, parents and sister, Linda Askew.
Tony leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 25 years, Dee Mason of Eldorado; son, Sammy Smith of Eldorado; son, Joey Smith and fiancée Amanda Moore of Harrisburg; son, J.D. Mason of Eldorado; daughter, Rylee Mason of Eldorado; son, Todd Moore and wife, Barbie of Harrisburg; son, Christopher Moore of Harrisburg; brother, Charles L. Mason Jr. and wife, Mary of Miami, Florida; brother, Gregg L. Mason of Miami, Florida; sister, Vickie Mason of Harrisburg; sister, Shirley Walda and husband, Gary of Harrisburg; a host of loving nieces and nephews; and the entire Cooley Family.
Funeral services for Tony Leon Mason will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home. Rev. Scott Pilkington will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 PM to 2 PM on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Mason Family to help offset final expenses and will be received at the funeral home. A reception immediately following the entombment, will be held at the Post Office Venue on Main Street in Harrisburg.
