Thomas Vincent Murray, age 63 of Stonefort, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.
Tom was born on January 20, 1961, in Bordeaux, France to the late Thomas W. Murray. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division as a combat engineer. Tom was a Jump Master and was deployed during Desert Storm to Iraq. He served most of his time in the Army at Fort Bragg. Tom retired from the United States Army in 2003 after 20 years of service to our country. He loved his dog Sugar and the outdoors. Tom enjoyed boating, taking care of his lawn, hunting, and fishing. He was a very competitive person, who didn’t go easy on anyone. Tom had a big heart, he was truly one of a kind, and a great and loving father, brother and friend.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Christina Murray of Harrisburg; grand dog Koa; five siblings, Rick Murray and wife Glenda of Shiloh, Sherry Copus and husband Enrique “Henry” Kadoch of Houston, Texas; Debbie Sullivan and husband TA of Harrisburg, Peggy Rakowski and husband Tony of Wisconsin; Connie Henshaw and husband Derek of Harrisburg; his uncle Don Jones of Lake of Egypt; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews; and his best friend, Jeff Butler of Harrisburg.
In addition to his father, Tom was preceded in death by his aunt, Janet Jones and niece Danielle Copus.
Memorial services will be held at 6 PM, Monday, June 3, 2024 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Military honors will immediately follow accorded by the United States Army. Memorials may be made to Tunnels to Towers, Disabled American Veterans, or the Wounded Warriors Project and will be received at the funeral home.
