Thomas E. Rexing

     Thomas E. Rexing, age 66 of Carrier Mills, passed away at 2:10 PM on Monday, March 9, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.

     Tom was born on May 11, 1959 in Eldorado, Illinois to the late Robert and JoAnn (Dietz) Rexing.  On April 11, 1987 he married Linda Kennedy and she survives in Carrier Mills.  Tom worked for Shawnee Communications for 42 years, as a Locator for the last 20 years.  He also worked for Prospect Water District.  Tom was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Harrisburg.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Scout Master for many years.  Tom was a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow.  He enjoyed camping, fishing and being outdoors; work was his hobby.  Tom was very active with the local Boy Scout Camps.  He was a proud Papa. 

     In addition to his wife, Linda, Tom is survived by his son, Brandon Rexing and wife, Sara of West Frankfort; son, Kevin Rexing and wife, Whitney of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Carleigh Miles of Harrisburg; Jackson Rexing of Harrisburg; and Kellan Rexing of West Frankfort; sister, Debbie Prince and husband, Don of Equality; brother, Wayne Rexing and wife, Joan of Equality; brother, Larry Rexing and wife, Wanda of Equality; sister, Joan Johnson of Equality; sister, Teri Casteel and husband, Alvin of Equality; uncle, Tom Tompkins of Equality and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Bonneville; brother-in-law, Bob “BJ” Johnson; and aunt, Polly Tompkins.

      A Celebration of Life for Thomas E. Rexing will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home.  Father Christian Iwuagwu will officiate.  Family will receive friends from 2 PM to 3 PM on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus and will be received at the funeral home.
