Terry Lynn Guest

Terry Lynn Guest, age 73, of Harrisburg, passed away at 10:17 AM, Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Harrisburg Medical Center.

    Terry was born on June 1, 1949, in Harrisburg, Illinois, to the late Ebert and Bernadine (Stalions) Guest.  On the 27th of June, 1970, he wed his best friend, Linda June Brasher.  

     Terry worked as a Safety Inspector for Sahara Coal Company for thirty years.  When Sahara closed, he joined the crew of the City of Harrisburg Street Department from which he retired.

     Terry's church family at Dorrisville Baptist Church, Harrisburg, was a huge part of his life. There he served as a member of the deacon body. He always made a point of greeting (or teasing) as many members or visitors as he had time for.

     Being an avid Cardinal fan, he enjoyed ribbing his #2 grandson, Ethan, when they beat the Cubs. Terry loved golf, and had three holes in one to prove it.  He was a classic car enthusiast, and owned a 1962 Chevy Impala.      

     Terry adored his grandchildren. Each one is, or has been an athlete and he was one of their biggest supporters, whether in person or video watching.   He loved rooting them on.  He was sometimes a bit too enthusiastic.  Afterwards, he never missed an opportunity to treat them at the concession stand. 

     Terry just loved people and he never met a stranger.  He delighted in telling jokes, and sharing his million in one personal stories. Terry had a heart of gold, and he loved an opportunity to share. Whether it was a box of donuts or opening his wallet for a complete stranger, he took pleasure in it. He would say, I give this to you in God's name.  

    Terry is survived by his loving wife, Linda Guest; a son, Jeremy Guest and wife, Christine, of High Ridge, Missouri; a son, Jonathan Guest, and wife Rebecca of Vienna, Illinois; five grandchildren, Faith Guest and fiancée Dalton Goddard of Vienna, Illinois; Tristan Guest of High Ridge, Missouri; Trevi Guest of High Ridge, Missouri; Hope Guest of Vienna, Illinois; Ethan Guest of Vienna, Illinois; a Sister, Tenna Stanfill and husband, Jess, of Washington, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and many, many great nieces and nephews.

    Visitation and funeral service for Terry will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg. Visitation will be 11 AM to 2 PM and funeral service at 2 PM.  Dewayne Taylor will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery.   

     Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to Dorrisville Baptist Church.  Envelopes will be available at the church.
