Terre Eversden Obituary

Terre Lee Howle Eversden, 68, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on April 27, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL after a valiant struggle with health complications.

Born in Cario, IL, on October 7, 1955 she was preceded in death by her parents John Wille and Mary Lee (Wilson) Howle of Harrisburg, IL.

A proud graduate of Harrisburg High School in 1973, she went on to achieve a Bachelors of Science, a Masters of Science, and a Doctorate in Family and Consumer Sciences, all from the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Terre then shared her passion for education as a cherished faculty member in the Department of Workforce Education and Development within SIU’s College of Education, proudly teaching at military bases nationwide. Terre was married to Gregory Knight Eversden of Quincy, IL having three children Jeff, Adam, and Mary Taylor.

A ‘classic woman’, Terre took pride in her homemaking skills. She was an exquisite seamstress, creating Halloween costumes beloved by her children and later her grandchildren. The classic “Gone with the Wind” was her favorite film. Terre relished the outdoors, finding delight in hiking and animals, especially horses. Yet, it was the joyous moments with friends and family that truly captured her heart. Terre was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ.

Terre leaves behind a legacy through her children, Jeffrey Knight and wife, Natalie (Grella) Eversden of Lisle, IL, and Mary Taylor Eversden and fiancé, Timothy Mullen of Cambridge, MA; and grandsons, Jacob Knight and Adam Colin Eversden of Lisle, IL.

She reunites in peace with her parents, John Willie and Mary Lee Howle; sister, Sharon Linn Howle; brother, Linn Kirk Howle; and son, Adam Linn Eversden.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 3rd in the Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg, IL.
