Sharlene Lavern Rhye, age 80 of Harrisburg, formerly of Galatia, passed away at 8:32 AM, on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Saline Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Sharlene was born on October 15, 1945 in Galatia to the late Jesse and Thelma (Jones) Malone. On August 15, 1992 she married Wayne Rhye and he preceded her in death on October 14, 1993. Sharlene was a Beautician and had been since 1970. She was a member of the Harrisburg Elks Lodge #1058. Sharlene enjoyed living in Florida and Hawaii. She was lovingly known as Nana Shar.
Sharlene is survived by her son, Jammie K. Stricklin and wife, Denise of Galatia, Illinois; daughter, Jill Marciano of Virginia Beach, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Zach Hogge and wife, Nicole of Virginia; Chase Huddleston and wife, Emily of Virginia; Gage Marciano and Van Marciano of Virginia; Paige Moulton and husband, A.J. of Marion, Illinois; Jailyn Shoulders and husband , Aaron of Harrisburg, Illinois; Austin Stricklin of Evansville, Indiana; nine great-grandchildren, Reid, Livia, Tripp, Junie, Lizzie, Louie, Connor, Logan, and Carter; sister, Shirley Beggs and husband, Don of Bloomington, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wayne, Sharlene was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Maci Marciano; brother, Howard Vinson, brother, Vernon Vinson Sr.; brother, Bob Malone; brother, Bill Malone; brother, James Malone; sister, Loudean Higgins; and sister, Mary Travers.
Graveside services for Sharlene Lavern Rhye will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at White Oak Cemetery in Clay, Kentucky. Rev. Terry Rhye will officiate and burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home or cemetery.
