Sarah Sue DeRosia, age 89 of Harrisburg, passed away at 2:47 PM, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Sarah was born on March 28, 1937 in Harrisburg, Illinois to the late Bill Hutchcraft and Rayetta (Cross) Hutchcraft. Sarah was a homemaker. She was a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church. Sarah loved reading her bible, she also enjoyed painting, crocheting, reading and writing poetry and riding horses. She loved her animals. Sarah loved to play the guitar and also wrote music. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Being around her family was always so important to her.
Sarah is survived by her three children, son, Kelly Gibbs of Harrisburg, Illinois; daughter, Jennifer DeRosia and Jeremy Johnson of Belle Rive, Illinois; son, P.J. DeRosia and wife, Amanda of Ormond Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Jacob Gibbs and wife, Monica of Harrisburg, Illinois; Jeremy Gibbs and Ashley Malick of Carbondale, Illinois; Sarah Boer and husband, Dylan of Antioch, Illinois; Evan DeRosia of Smithfield, Rhode Island; great grandchildren, Elecia Brito; Jayden Hosman; Killian Gibbs; Ezra Gibbs; Hadley Boer; and Averie Boer; brother, Charles Hutchcraft of Vista, California; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua Gibbs; sister, Patsy Butterworth; and brother, Billy Ray Hutchcraft.
Memorial services for Sarah Sue DeRosia will be held at 6 PM, Monday, April 27, 2026 at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. Scott Johnson and Rev. Trent Duncan will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 6 PM, Monday, April 27, 1026 at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stricklin Funeral Home for Sarah’s great grandchildren’s college fund and envelopes will be available at the church.
