"Rusty" Pritchett Obituary

     William Charles “Rusty” Pritchett, age 79 of Galatia, passed away at 3:30 AM, on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by his family.

     Rusty was born on July 4, 1946 in Eldorado, Illinois to the late William Roy and Rose (Takacs) Pritchett.  On December 27, 1968 he married Carla Raben and she survives in Galatia.   Rusty proudly served his country as a Sergeant in The United States Army in Vietnam.  He worked as a Superintendent for Peabody Coal Company for 35 years.  Rusty was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Harrisburg.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post 364 in Carrier Mills, the Marion VFW Post 1301 and the St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus.  Rusty enjoyed hunting and fishing, he also loved to tinker and work in his shop.  He was an avid gardener; raising vegetables and sunflowers.  Rusty was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.   

     In addition to his wife, Carla, Rusty is survived by his four children, daughter, Paula Hendrickson and husband, Kevin of Evansville, Indiana; son, Bill Pritchett and wife, Emily of Houston, Texas; son, Keith Pritchett and wife, Caitlin of Eldorado, Illinois; daughter, Mary Rose Pritchett of Evansville, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Kendra Reynolds of Evansville, Indiana; Jada Cullum of Evansville, Indiana; Cecilia Pritchett of Houston, Texas; Joseph Pritchett of Houston, Texas; Gabriel Pritchett of Houston, Texas; Madison Kingston of Eldorado, Illinois; and Charlotte Pritchett of Eldorado, Illinois; one great granddaughter, Khloe Reynolds of Evansville, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents, Rusty was preceded in death by his grandson, Luke Pritchett; and sister, Sharon Abney.

     Mass of Christian Burial for William Charles “Rusty” Pritchett will be held at 11 AM, on Friday, January 9, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Harrisburg.  Father Christian Iwuagwu will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home with a Rosary Service beginning at 7 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Linda E. White Hospice House or St. Mary’s Catholic Church and will be received at the funeral home.
