Ronald Dale Rann, Sr.

     Ronald Dale Rann, Sr., age 80, of Harrisburg, Illinois, passed away at 3:38 PM, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

     Ron was born on September 21, 1942 in Harrisburg, Illinois to the late Robert “Bob” and Freda (Cowsert) Rann. On June 10, 1961 he married Brenda Thompson. Ron worked as a machinist, electrician and mechanic for Caterpillar for 49 years. Ron was General Baptist by faith. He loved rummage sales, scrapping and antiquing.  Ron enjoyed working in his flower garden and loved to grow things.  He did lots of handy man work for his family and friends, he enjoyed working with his hands.  Ron would help anyone.  He believed if you are here, you are part of the family.  He enjoyed socializing and could talk to anyone.  Ron was a hero to his family.  He was a beloved dad, papa and friend to many.

     Ron is survived by his wife Brenda Rann of Harrisburg, Illinois; daughter, Ronita Murrie of Harrisburg, Illinois; son, Ronald Rann, Jr. of Evansville, Indiana; son-in-law, Chris Reed of Harrisburg, Illinois; six grandchildren, Jeremy Reed and wife Naomi of Middlesex, North Carolina; Josh Reed and wife Valerie, of Arvada, Colorado; Rachel Murrie and fiancé, Cody Murphy of Thompsonville, Illinois; Jenny Murrie and fiancé, Tyler Atkisson of Marion, Illinois; Alexis Flower and husband Ricky of Crestview, Florida; Brittney Robey and husband Kyle of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; great grandchildren, Aurora Reed, Emma Flower, Cedric Johnson, Kenton, Benjamin and Liliet Robey; brother, Jerry Rann of Herod, Illinois and special sister-in-law, Earlene “Rosey” Abbott and husband Robert of  McLeansboro, Illinois.

     Ron was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Trudy Reed, son-in-law, Jeff Murrie, brothers, John Rann, Roger Rann, Fred Rann, Randy Rann and nephew, Ryan Rann.

     Funeral services for Ronald Dale Rann, Sr. will be held at 5 PM, Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg, formerly Reed Funeral Chapel. Pastor Robert Abbott will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 5 PM, Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. The family will be hosting a wiener roast at Ron’s house after the service in honor of their father, everyone is invited to attend.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
