Robert Lee Owen

     Robert Lee Owen, age 70 of Harrisburg, passed away at 5:50 PM, on Monday, April 20, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.

     Robert was born on January 19, 1956 in Harrisburg, Illinois to the late George and Helen Patricia (Quertermous) Owen.  He worked as a coal miner for Sahara, Arclar and Big Ridge where his nickname was “Wino”.  Robert also worked as a manager at O’Keefe Lumber for 13 years and was a cabinet maker.  He was baptized at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.  Robert enjoyed cabinet making and wood working.  He liked watching and playing sports; he was a great baseball pitcher in high school.  Robert was the greatest dad and proud grandpa.

     Robert is survived by his two sons, Reece Owen of Harrisburg; and Kody Owen and wife, Bethany of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Marlowe Owen, and Taylor and Jackson Mathis; sister, Linda Watkins and husband, Jeff of Harrisburg; bonus brother, Eugene Sheldon of Harrisburg; nieces and nephews, Alex and Katie Watkins; and Cassi and Evelyn Patton; and uncle, Steve Quertermous.

     Graveside services for Robert Lee Owen will be held at 2 PM, on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg.  Rev. Joe Thompson will officiate.
