Richard Guye Obituary

     Richard Lee Guye, age 76 of Thompsonville, passed away at 10:10 PM, on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Harrisburg Medical Center.

     Richard was born on April 25, 1949 in McLeansboro, Illinois to the late Fletcher and Iva Laverne (Anderson) Guye.  On July 12, 1985 he married Vicki Latrese Stevens and she survives in Thompsonville.  Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam in Germany.  He retired from Southern Illinois University where he worked as the Plant Manager.  Richard attended Little Chapel Church where he was active on several boards.  He loved spending time with his grandkids.  Richard cared for Ebenezer Cemetery.  In his earlier years he enjoyed playing golf. 

     In addition to his wife, Vicki Latrese Guye, Richard is survived by his son, Kris Guye and wife GeNaé of College Station, Texas; step-son, Shannon Bell and wife Anissa of Marion; step-son, Andy Bell of Thompsonville; eleven grandchildren, Baily Guye of Waco, Texas; Maddie Pappoe and husband Tim of College Station, Texas; Katie Guye of College Station, Texas; Josiah Guye of College Station, Texas; Dakota Bell of Marion; Marshall Bell and wife Brooke of Pinckneyville; Allie Bell of Chicago, Illinois; Alex Clark of Marion; Jordan Clark of Marion; Peyton Bell of Thompsonville; and Parker Bell of Thompsonville; four great-grandchildren, Trystyn, Henry, Lilly and Rose; sister, Loretta Bugger and husband Bob of Galatia; nieces and nephews, Dr. Erica Scheffer-Gonzalez and husband A.J. of Cape Girardeau; Daniel Scheffer and wife Jennifer of Marion; and great nieces and nephews, Kade Scheffer, Jackson and Morgan Gonzalez.  

     In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Traci Lynn Bell and brother-in-law, Arthur Scheffer.    
     Memorial services for Richard Lee Guye will be held at 1 PM on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home.  Jeff Rush will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1:00 PM, on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Cemetery and will be received at the funeral home.
