Rev. Ted Burnett Warren, 85 of Harrisburg, passed away at 7:05 AM, Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.
Ted was born on January 15, 1937 in Hamburg, Illinois to the late Ted Elwood and Cleta (Hughes) Warren. On May 19, 1961 he married Sharon Evans and she survives in Harrisburg. Ted was a bi-vocational pastor and worked and pastored many places. He started working for Martin Oil Company, which is where Sharon first saw him. Ted then worked for Abney Oil Company, Sunbeam Bread, Joliet Arsenal, Bunny Bread, Big Ridge Mine, A.L. Bowen Center, Anna Mental Institute, and the Illinois Youth Center from which he retired in 2001. While Ted was working, he pastored at many social brethren churches. He started in the ministry at Rocky Branch, then Bradley, Mt. Pleasant #2, Equality where he was a member, Parrish, Carrier Mills, Union and New Home until it closed. Ted served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He loved to watch westerns on tv.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, Ted is survived by two sons, Jay Warren and wife Veneta of Harrisburg, and Jeff Warren and wife Mary of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Kiesha Warren and fiancée, Brandon Fromm of Harrisburg; Skylar Warren of Harrisburg and Jacob Warren of Raleigh; two great grandchildren, Paesyn Warren and Atticus Fromm of Harrisburg, and several nieces and nephews.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Wayne “Buster” Warren, sister, Norma Warren, brother, Steve Warren, father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Edith Evans, and sister-in-law, Letha Evans.
Funeral services for Rev. Ted Burnett Warren will be held at 1 PM, Friday, November 4, 2022 at Dorrisville Social Brethren Church. Rev. Jerry Wells will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM, Friday, November 4, 2022 at Dorrisville Social Brethren Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dorrisville Social Brethren Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the church.
