Rev. Leroy Wallace Obituary

     Rev. Leroy Frank Wallace, age 98, of Benton, Kentucky passed away at 3:20 PM, on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehabilitation with his family by his side.

     Rev. Wallace was born on June 20, 1927 in Equality, Illinois to the late Willie and Mary (Trusty) Wallace.  On October 4, 1954 he married Barbara Nunley and she preceded him in death on February 10, 2023.  He proudly served his country in The United States Army during the Korea War.  Rev. Wallace was a minister and a member of The Church of God in Sturgis, Kentucky.  In Rev. Wallace’s career, he was an evangelist and preached in different states and became a pastor.  A few of the places he pastored include Rosiclare, Illinois; East St. Louis, Missouri, Carrier Mills, Illinois and The Church of God of Prophesy in Harrisburg, Illinois.  He loved Donald Trump.  In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.  After he became a minister, his passion was witnessing. 

     Rev. Leroy Wallace is survived by his eight children, daughter, Barbara Potter and husband, Willie of Cleveland, Tennessee; daughter, Janice Garrett and husband, Jeff of Benton, Kentucky; daughter, Elizabeth Patterson of Carrier Mills, Illinois; son, Leroy Wallace, Jr of Harrisburg, Illinois; son, Kevin Wallace of Harrisburg, Illinois; son, Darryl Wallace and wife, Grace of Herrin, Illinois; daughter, Valerie Johnson and husband, James of Parrish, Florida; and son, Christopher Wallace of Willow Springs, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren, Melina Potter of Ashville, North Carolina; Erin Blankenship and husband, Greg of Cleveland, Tennessee; Catrina VanGenderen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Frankie Bethel and wife, Amy of Harrisburg, Illinois; Joshua Bethel and wife, Vonda of Harrisburg, Illinois; Jordan Patterson of Harrisburg, Illinois; Dana Wallace of Harrisburg, Illinois; Matthew Wallace of Harrisburg, Illinois; Kristin White of Lawrenceville, Illinois; Sabastin Wallace of Herrin, Illinois; Dakota Wallace of Herrin, Illinois; Kaitlyn Duggins of Granite City, Illinois; Brandon Duggins of Harrisburg, Illinois; Tracey Wallace and Katrina Wallace of Fordland, Missouri; Rose Wallace of West Frankfort, Illinois; Christopher, Jacob, and Ethan Wallace of Willow Springs, Missouri; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Troy Wallace and wife, Sonya of Kissimmee, Florida; and Ronnie Wallace and wife, Judy of Moro, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, and wife, Barbara, Rev. Wallace was preceded in death by his son, Terry Wallace; great granddaughter, Charlotte Blankenship of Cleveland, Tennessee; brother, Bill Wallace; brother, David Wallace; brother, Raymond Wallace; brother, Charles Wallace; sister, Lois Braden; sister, Dixie Brown and step-mother, Bertha Wallace.

     Funeral services for Rev. Leroy Frank Wallace will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home.  Rev. Randy Farthing will officiate and burial will follow in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM, Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home.
