Rev. Dick Driskell

     Reverend Dick Driskell, 82 of Carrier Mills, Illinois passed away at 8:15 AM, Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Marion VA Community Living Center surrounded by his family.

     Dick was born on September 16, 1943 to the late Richard “Bert” and Gladys (Ledbetter) Driskell. On December 5, 1998 he married Loretta Dale and she survives in Carrier Mills. He served his country in the United States Air Force in Alaska from 1962 to 1966. Dick later worked for the Okaloosa County, Florida Sheriff’s Department and was a Southern Baptist Minister for several churches in Florida and in Southern Illinois.

     In addition to his wife, Loretta, Dick is survived by daughter, Richea Driskell of Baker, Florida; step-daughter, Melanie Brothers and husband Jeff of Marion, IL; step-daughter, Jackie Parker of Marion, IL; step-son, Sheldon Dale and wife Jaci of Harrisburg, IL; six grandchildren, Nick Brothers and wife Kelli of Marion, IL; Allison Kirschbaum and husband Jared of Carterville, IL; Darci Palmer and husband Nathan of Johnston City, IL; Ryan Parker of Cambria, IL; Walker Dale of Harrisburg, IL and Jackson Dale of Harrisburg, IL; and ten great grandchildren, Barret, Bentley, Bowie, Birdie, Declan, Grayson, Emberlynn, Olivia, Calvin, and Theo.

      In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by sister, Donna Jean Allen and sister, Doris June Walters.

      A Celebration of Life for Rev. Dick Driskell will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Big Saline United Baptist Church south of Harrisburg.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.  Rev. Mark Hutson will officiate the service at 2:00 p.m. and burial will immediately follow in Coffee Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Big Saline United Baptist Church or Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Harrisburg, IL.
