Ray Edward "Bud" Bebout Obituary

     Ray Edward “Bud” Bebout, age 86 of Harrisburg, passed away at 1:08 AM, Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Deaconess Henderson Hospital in Henderson, Kentucky surrounded by his family.

     Bud was born on August 8, 1938 in Pope County, Illinois to the late Burl and Cora (Hicks) Bebout. He served his country honorably in the United States Army while stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. On October 1, 1958 he married Mildred Gene Turnage and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2017. He was a member of Ledford Baptist Church. Bud worked as a coal miner for Sahara Coal Company and loved working on small engines. He was an avid trap shooter and had won numerous competitions. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bud was a loving, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle.  “He was the best dad.”

     Bud is survived by his daughter, Debbie Etienne and husband Jim of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Bridgette Mott and husband, Terry of Harrisburg; Darian Etienne of Spring, Texas; Kirstynn Mercado and husband A.J. Mercado of Murray, Kentucky; great grandchildren, Addy and Avery Mott of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents and wife Mildred, Bud was preceded in death by ten siblings.

     Funeral services for Ray Edward “Bud” Bebout will be held at 12 PM, Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Seth Graves will officiate and burial will follow in Collier Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM, Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Collier Cemetery and will be received at the funeral home.
