Allan Porter, 87, of Equality, passed away on February 20, 2026 at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on April 18, 1938, to Madge & Harold Porter of Equality. He was part of Porter Farms of Equality, with his father and four brothers. He also served a pastor of Equality Christian Center Church for 35 years, as well as ministering in local jails and prisons in southern Illinois. He made multiple mission trips to countries around the world, including Mexico, Guatemala, Haiti, Russia, Ukraine, and India.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Janie, as well as his son Kevin (Cindy) Porter and his daughter Kathy (Earl) Flanigan, all of Equality. He & Janie have been blessed with six grandchildren: Adam (Lori) Porter, Daniel (Bethany) Porter, Megan (John) Lemonds, Sean, Scott, and Cassidy Flanigan. They also have eight great grandchildren: Landon, Addy, Jolee, Avree, Kaydee, Cameron Porter and Emma & Judah Lemonds.
Allan is also survived by his brothers Tom (Mary Ann) Porter, Jim (Lynda) Porter, Don (Ann) Porter, & Paul (Cecilia) Porter, as well as many nieces, nephews, & extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Joan Haney Wilson.
Funeral services for Allan Porter will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Pastor Adam Porter will officiate and burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon to 1 PM, Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers friends and family are asked to make donations to the 4Cs, Christian Community Compassion Center, and will be received at the funeral home.
