Norma Arlene Perkins

1939 - 2021    

     Norma Arlen Perkins, age 82, of Carrier Mills, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away at 3:00 AM, Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

     Norma was born on October 17, 1939 in Beardstown, Illinois to the late Frank and Edith Jamison.  She married Wayland Perkins on November 17, 1957, and he preceded her in death on December 27, 2014. Norma worked as a cook at all Unit #3 Harrisburg Schools during her career. She attended Saline Ridge Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of Saline County Home Extension, Ledford Liberty Bell. Norma enjoyed sewing, cooking and spoiling her grandbabies. She loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Norma always had to serve dessert to anyone that stopped by her home.

    Norma is survived by two children, son, John Perkins and wife, Janet of Harrisburg; daughter, Susan Allen and husband, Gene of Harrisburg; grandchildren, John Perkins and wife, Becky of Harrisburg; Cole Perkins and wife, Sarah of Harrisburg; Justin Allen and wife, Kelsey of Harrisburg; Kristi Parks and husband, Travis of Carrier Mills; great grandchildren, Mathew Perkins, Isaac Parks, Tinley Parks, Logan Perkins, Carson Allen, Nora Perkins, Peyton Allen and Oliver Perkins.

    Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Ben Jamison, Ted Jamison, Clyde Jamison and Arthur Jamison; sisters, Marge Matthews, Helen Wathers, Mary Jamison and Frances Jamison; and grandson, Luke Perkins.

    Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Reed Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jeff Owens will officiate and burial will follow at Pierson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 PM – 8 PM, Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Reed Funeral Chapel.  Memorial contribution may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
