Myra Marie (Penrod) Bascom

     Myra Marie Bascom, age 75, of Harrisburg, passed away at 12:22 PM, Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Harrisburg Medical Center. 

     Myra was born on August 13, 1946 to the late Lewis Millington and Bonnie Lou (Cavett) Penrod. On December 1, 1966 she married Barry Bascom and he preceded her in death on December 23, 2021.  Barry and Myra served many churches in southern Illinois, most recently Rudement Social Brethren Church. Myra was a long-time member of Harrisburg First Baptist Church.

     Myra loved her family and was always present for her grandkids’ ball games. She had a servant’s heart and loved serving her Lord.

     Myra is survived by her daughter, Shara Dawn Brown and James Clarida of Woodlawn; three grandchildren, Kelsey Nichole Brown of Benton; Kylee Renae Brown and fiancé, J.D. Fulk of Kansas City, Missouri; and Keaton Alan Brown of Woodlawn; sister, Roslyn Haste of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother Wendell Penrod and wife, Vicki of Indianapolis, Indiana; and sister, Pam Bond and husband, Joel of Harrisburg; nephew, Christopher Haste and wife, Marci of Columbus, Ohio; nephew, Jason Penrod and Melissa Jaeger of Indianapolis, Indiana; special friends, Anita and Ed Whipple.

     Myra was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Barry Bascom.

     A celebration of life will be held for Barry and Myra from 2 PM to 4 PM, Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the Saline Baptist Association Grounds. Come celebrate as we remember these amazingly, wonderful people, share stories of their life and our tears, but most of all share the stories of their love, laughter and friendship.
