Modeene Osman, 79 of Harrisburg, passed away at 1:15 PM, Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana, surrounded by her family.
Modeene was born on May 22, 1944 in Harrisburg to the late William “Bill” Herchel and Virginia (Shaver) Melton. On March 21, 1964 she married Jerry Osman and he survives in Harrisburg. Modeene was an elementary teacher for Harrisburg Unit #3 schools for over 35 years where she primarily taught first grade at East Side and Phillips Elementary School. Modeene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harrisburg and the SIC College Club. Modeene loved travelling, especially winter trips to Florida. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working puzzles.
Her greatest joy was her family most importantly spending time with grandchildren. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas and having all the family together at her house.
Modeene is survived by her husband Jerry; daughter, Janetta Flener; son, Greg Osman and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Ryder Flener, Grayson Osman, Griffin Osman, Brandy Cook and husband Stuart, Shawna Flener and Erik Heins, two great grandchildren, Emma Faye Cook and Ian Heins, sister, Sue Beal and husband Jerry, and sister-in-law, Janet Dutton and husband Ron.
In addition to her parents, Modeene was preceded in death by son-in-law, Randy Flener.
Funeral services for Modeene Osman will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Laurie Fields will officiate. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery at Karbers Ridge. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the service hour. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Hope Cemetery or the First Presbyterian Church of Harrisburg. Condolences may be left for her family on her obituary page at www.stricklinfuneralhome.com.
