Millicent Leota Knight Obituary

     Mrs. Leota Knight passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Liberty Village in Marion. Mrs. Knight was born in Harrisburg on April 25, 1928 to the late Curtis and Artie (Crow) Petty. She was a graduate of Harrisburg High School, the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University.  She taught school in Harco, Harrisburg and Equality for a number of years before becoming a dietary assistant at A. L. Bowen Children’s Center. She then received her Registered Dietitian degree and worked as the dietitian at Doctors Hospital in Harrisburg for over twenty years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, PEO and a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed a love of music, giving piano lessons and often accompanying others at the piano. In 1950, she married Sam Leberman and in 1971 she married Donald Knight, both of which preceded her in death.

     She will be mourned by her three children, Lisa Leberman Buchtmann (Larry) of Goldsboro, North Carolina; Kurt (Becky) Leberman of Marion; and Joseph Leberman of Pope County; along with six grandchildren, Lauren Buchtmann of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Karen Buchtmann Hinnant (Brandon) of Goldsboro, North Carolina; Jason (Megan) Buchtmann of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Rachel Leberman Anderson (Adam) of Eldorado; Ashley Leberman Schultz (Luke) of Eldorado; and Joseph Mac Leberman, Jr. of Austin, Texas. She also leaves three step-children, Dr. Steve Knight of Harrisburg; and his daughter, Nancy Knight Pemberton (Chris) of Marion; Sherry Knight and husband, Vaughn Morrison of Springfield; and their children Aaron, Danielle and Wade Morrison; and Kelly (Cindy) Knight of Harrisburg and their children, Shanna and Josh (Stacy) Knight. She will also be missed by twelve great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

      Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 17, 2021  at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg.
