Mike Angel Hernandez

     Mike Angel Hernandez, 64 of Galatia, passed away at 3:40 PM, Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.

     Mike was born on December 21, 1957, in Isabela, Puerto Rico to the late Miguel and Carmen (Velez) Hernandez. Mike was raised in Rosiclare and graduated from Rosiclare High School. On July 29, 1977, he married Linda McConnell and she preceded him in death on December 2, 2015.  Mike was a member of Little Chapel Church and formerly worked as a custodian for Galatia Elementary School. Mike loved basketball and music, but his favorite pastime was spending time with and caring for his grandkids. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

     Mike is survived by two children, Jerad Hernandez and wife, Connie of Harrisburg; daughter, Kari Ellet and husband, Cory of Herrin; four grandchildren, Chloe, Aiden, Briley, and Linley; brother, Charles Hernandez of Georgia; sisters, Yolanda Hernandez of Missouri, Carmen Reynolds of Texas, and Wanda Stevenson of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his wife, Linda and parents, Miguel and Carmen, Mike was preceded in death by a grandson Ethan Conrad Hernandez, a brother, Joseph Hernandez and just recently a sister, Carmen Ana Roe.

     Funeral services for Mike Hernandez will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Jeff Rush and Howard Stearns will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 1 PM to 3 PM, Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Reed Funeral Chapel.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hernandez family to help offset medical expenses.
