     Michael Keith Alecci, age 79 of Harco, Illinois, passed away, Sunday, December 24, 2023.

     Mike was born on August 30, 1944 in Harco, Illinois to the late Vincenzo James and Vivian Noreen (Russell) Alecci.  On January 7, 1967 he married Beverly Sue Fowler and she survives.

     Mike was a 1963 graduate of Galatia High School.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965 – 1967.  After training in artillery, he was stationed in Pleiku, Vietnam, during the Vietnam War.  Mike was a retired coal miner, retiring from Galatia Coal Mine.  He was a member of Harco Baptist Church, attending the church since he was a small boy.  Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  Everyone who knew Mike saw the gentle, caring man that he always was.  Mike’s favorite past time was camping and fishing with his “Buddies”.  He also was a huge fan of western movies and the TV series Gunsmoke.

     In addition to his wife Beverly, Mike is survived by a daughter, Susan Denise (Slone) Alecci; granddaughter, Ashleigh Slone and wife Jess; great grandson, Logan Michael Byron; brother-in-law, Randall Fowler and wife Kim of Harco, Illinois; sister-in-law, Annette Mandrell Hughes of Harco, Illinois; brother, James Alecci and wife Edna of Flint, Michigan; brother, Lavern Alecci of Harrisburg, Illinois; sister, Jeanette Cain and husband Stanley of Carrier Mills, Illinois, sister, Linda Ellis and husband Arnold of Harco, Illinois; brother-in-law, Charles Adams of Harco, Illinois; brother-in-law, Bruce Jackson of Galatia, Illinois; sister-in-law, Jan Alecci of Kingston, Washington; special cousin and best friend, Curt Jent of Sandwich, Illinois; and many special nieces and nephews.

     Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joseph Alecci; sister, Judy (Alecci) Adams; sister, Cynthia (Alecci) Jackson; mother-in-law, Madge Nell Fowler; son-in-law, Jeffery Scott Thomas; brother-in-law, Bobby Mandrell; brother-in-law, Kenneth E. Fowler Jr.; nephew, Kevin Lee Mandrell and several aunts and uncles.

     Funeral services for Michael Keith Alecci will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Dale Martin will officiate and burial will follow at Brushy Cemetery in Harco, Illinois. Military funeral honors will be conducted by the United States Army, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Sons of the American Legion. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 2 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
