Mark Bittle Obituary

     Mark Steven Bittle, 57, of Barrington, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois on September 30, 2022. Mark was born in Carbondale, Illinois on November 20,1964 to Dean and Sharon (Thomas) Bittle.

     He was a graduate of Harrisburg High School class of 1983, and then attended Northwestern University where he graduated in 1987 with a degree in Economics and Computer Science. Mark was a Senior Project Manager at Risk Placement Services. He was a former Managing Director at Fortexx Consulting, LLC and a former Principal at Solve. Mark was also a former Operations Manager, Financial Services Technology Manager and a Networking Engineer at Arthur Andersen and Company. He was a former European Consulting Manager at Platinum Software Corporation. Mark was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Atonement of Barrington where he served in the Technical Arts Ministry. He was also a member of the Barrington Lions Club and Delta Upsilon Fraternity at Northwestern University where he ran track and cross country. Mark currently holds the Harrisburg High School record in the 800-meter run and he also won the state 800-meter title in 1983 for Harrisburg. Mark was a world traveler. Having lived in London for a year and a half, Mark traveled all over Europe and visited Africa, China, and New Zealand. Mark ran the Chicago Marathon twice and he was an adventurous man who enjoyed hiking, camping and being outdoors. Mark was a proud father to his boys.

     Mark is survived by his sons; Chris Bittle of Van Nuys, California and Alex Bittle of Greencastle, Indiana; his parents, Dean and Sharon Bittle of Harrisburg; brother, Todd Bittle and wife, Beth; sister, Amy Brombaugh and husband, Matt of Harrisburg; mother of his children, Sharon Becker Bittle of Niles, Illinois; nieces and nephews, Patrick Bittle, Sarah Bittle, Andrew Bittle, Ben Brombaugh, Sofie Brombaugh and Miles Brombaugh.

     He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Howard and Pauline Bittle and Don and Ruth Faler.

      Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg, formerly Reed Funeral Chapel. Rev. Laurie Fields will officiate; burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 PM to 2 PM, Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Harrisburg High School Track/Cross country program or a charity of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
