Marion Faye (Haldeman) White was born November 10, 1935 to the late Rudolph and Alma Haldeman in Granite City, Illinois. Marion is survived by her two daughters, Leann & Cheri White of Harrisburg and brother Robert (Jean) Haldeman of Placerville, California. She was preceded in death by her husband William R. (Bill) White and brother Fred Haldeman.
Purpose and responsibility define a life and Marion White spent her time as a mother, business owner and helping others, paving the way for her daughters to lead purposeful, independent lives. As a young girl, Marion had a passion for the Lord and helping others, joining the Salvation Army Girl Guards and regaling her children with stories inspired by her travels to the Netherlands and continued missionary work in East St Louis that eventually brought her to oversee a Salvation Army mission in Harrisburg, Illinois. During her service to the Community, Marion met her husband Bill White (married May 5, 1962) and transitioned her purpose and responsibilities to motherhood and running White’s Florist and Greenhouse for 50 years side by side with her husband. Marion and Bill had a wanderlust for the outdoors and adventure taking their girls traveling and camping across North America every summer and continuing into their 80’s, even if it was just down the road. Marion never met a stranger and welcomed all with her homemade pies and biscuits and an open door at every holiday. Marion requested no services but would like all to remember her fondly as you travel on your adventures and find your purpose in life. Cheri and Leann would like to give a special thank you to Vanessa Bratko and her granddaughter Alye ,who brought sunshine and love as a caregiver to Marion in her last days. While Marion loved flowers, she would rather you enjoy them now and if possible make a donation in her name to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
There will be no services.
