Margaret Kathryn “Maggie” Miller, age 80 of Harrisburg passed away at 2:28 AM, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.
Maggie was born on November 28, 1945 in Saline County to the late Arthur and Marie G. (Riegel) Evans. On January 25, 1964 she married Howard Edward “Ed” Miller and he survives in Harrisburg. Maggie worked for Wilson Cabinets, then for Kennellis Energy as an Executive Secretary. She then went on to work for Illinois Department of Corrections at IYC Harrisburg as an Office Coordinator until her retirement. Maggie attended Pankeyville Baptist Church. She was a member of the Shawnee Hills Saddle Club and she loved horses and riding horses in the Shawnee National Forest with her family. Maggie loved her family; especially her grandkids and great grandkids. She was a very caring person. Maggie enjoyed sewing and was a great cook. She was raised in the country and was taught the value of hard work.
Maggie is survived by her husband, Howard Edward “Ed” Miller of Harrisburg; daughter, Kim Moulton and husband, Terry of Carrier Mills; daughter, Tami Gates and husband, Eric of Galatia; three grandchildren, Dustin Moulton and wife, Shawna of Marion; Andrew Moulton and wife, Paige of Marion; and Scott Gates and fiancée, Lauren of Galatia; four great grandchildren, Avery and Emma Moulton of Marion; Lizzie and Louie Moulton of Marion; sister, Mary Ann Meadows and husband, Charles of Harrisburg; sister, Marcia Hooten of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Jean Evans and Darrell Evans.
Funeral services for Margaret Kathryn “Maggie” Miller will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Ernie Fowler will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.
