Lucy Jane (Burgess) Russell

      Lucy Jane Russell, 90 of Harrisburg, passed away at 12:19 AM, Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Deaconess Illinois Hospital in Marion.

     Lucy was born on August 19, 1934 in Lapeer, Michigan to the late Theodore and Beulah (Clarkson) Burgess. On June 26, 1954 she married Charles James Russell and he survived in Harrisburg. Lucy was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Lapeer, Michigan. She enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy.  She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting, travelling, and bird watching. Lucy loved southern gospel music.

     In addition to her husband Charles, Lucy is survived by four children, Ted Russell and wife Char of Mayville, Michigan; Jane Sechrest and husband John of Harrisburg; Ruth Poiles and husband, Mark of Los Lunas, New Mexico; and Sarah McKeone and husband Jon of Gainesville, Virginia; six grandchildren, Jordan, Ian, Caitlin, Katie, Jonathan, and Gary; two great grandchildren, Issac and Callan; brother-in-law, Ken Wiggers of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Vida Burgess of Ft. Myers, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

     Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara Scrimger and husband Dale; brother, Rev. Richard Burgess and sister, Patricia Wiggers.

     A celebration of life will be held for Lucy and her husband Charles, at 11 AM, Thursday, April 10 ,2025 at Calvary Bible Church in Lapeer, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to WMPC Radio of Lapeer, Michigan and will be received at the funeral home.
