Lowell Alan Hunt, age 63, of Galatia, passed away on May 28, 2023 at Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana surrounded by his family.
Alan was born on June 5, 1959, to the late James Lowell and Mamie Floy (King) Hunt in Harrisburg. He married Brenda Allen on June 4, 1982 and she survives in Galatia. Alan retired from Coca-Cola and then he worked as a manager for Dairy Queen in Marion. He then worked for Schwan’s Consumer Brands with their pizza line, and then briefly for Continental Tire. Alan was a very active member of Lebanon Church, where he served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. He loved his cattle and his chickens and enjoyed bushhogging on the farm, and hunting squirrel, rabbit and raccoon. Alan was formerly a member of the Southern Illinois Corvette Club. He was a good friend and neighbor.
Alan is survived by wife Brenda; son, Brent Hunt and fiancée, Julee Thorne of Eldorado; daughter, Brittany Hunt and Glen Collins of Eldorado; grandson, Brendon Hunt of North Carolina; grandson, Britton Collins of Eldorado; sister, Sheila Hunt of Harrisburg; brother, Stephen Hunt and wife Donna of Harrisburg; and niece, Jamie Marie Hunt of Harrisburg.
In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded by his paternal grandparents, Arthur and Iva Hunt and maternal grandparents, Abner and Bertie King.
Funeral services for Lowell Alan Hunt will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Robert Abbott will officiate and burial will follow in Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 11:30 AM, Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Fair Haven Foundation (This is a Christian non-profit foundation that offers temporary housing for patients and their families while receiving treatment in the hospital.) and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
