Lonny Jay Reed

     Lonny Jay Reed, age 65, of Harrisburg, passed away at 4:51 PM, Friday, January 10, 2025 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

     Lonny was born on February 20, 1959 in Rosiclare to the late Clarence and Vevia (Lear) Reed.  On May 28, 1983 he married the love of his life, Carla Brooks and she preceded him in death on April 23, 2020.  Lonny worked at Robbs Lumber for 20 years and was a Contractor for 24 years.  He was a 4H Leader for 30 years.  Lonny was a member of Saline County Stockman’s Association for 32 years; he made and donated many furniture pieces to the Association over the years that were auctioned to help raise money to support local agriculture programs.  He built cabinets on the side for over 30 years.  He enjoyed making crafts, boating and camping; but his favorite past-time was spending time with his family.  

     Lonny is survived by his daughter, Brianna Johnson and husband Cody of Harrisburg; granddaughter, Harper Kate Johnson of Harrisburg; grandson, Tucker Lee Johnson of Harrisburg; grandson, Hunter Creed Johnson; sister, Sharon Butler and husband, Jonah of Harrisburg; sister, Pat Blankenship of Dixon Springs; sister, Donna Souders of Brookport; twin brother, Ronny Reed of Glendale; brother, Bobby Reed and wife Carolyn of Marion; several nieces and nephews; and his son-in-law, Cody’s family who he loved as his own.

     In addition to his parents and wife Carla, Lonny was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Mott; brother, Gene Reed, and brother, Clarence Reed.

    Funeral services for Lonny Jay Reed will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg.  Rev. Jeff Owens will officiate and burial will follow in Lindale Cemetery at Eldorado.  Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Saline County Stockmen’s Association and will be received at the funeral home.
