Linda Joyce (Hill) Butler

      Linda Joyce Butler, age 81 of Harrisburg, passed away at 6:45 PM, Monday, September 18, 2023, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale surrounded by her family.
      Linda was born on September 12, 1942, in Harrisburg to the late Morse and Bernice (Wiley) Hill.  On June 14, 1998, she married Glendel F. Butler, Glendel preceded her in death on January 15, 2011. Linda was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrier Mills where she played the organ for over fifty years. She also enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, and her cat, Bailey. But, Jesus was her everything, she loved him dearly. She was the “Greatest Mom ever”.
      Linda is survived by two children, Kristopher McNew of Carrier Mills and Debbie Draper; daughter, Lori Johnson and Scott Johnson of Harrisburg; sister, Peggy Gilliam of Springfield, Illinois; sister, Vicki Hill of Fairfield; Illinois; niece, Tomi Kimble and husband, Carl of Springfield Illinois; great nephews, Thomas and Harry Kimble of Springfield, Illinois.

     In addition to her parents and husband, Glendel, Linda was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Tom Gilliam.
     Private services will be held. Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
