Leo M Watkins

Leo Mac Watkins, age 93, of Harrisburg, passed away at 9:25 PM, Tuesday April 18, 2023 at Saline Care Center surrounded by his family.

     Leo was born on Monday, December 16, 1929 in Centerville, Illinois to the late Carl Shannon and Martha (Jones) Watkins.  He married Deldia Rae Lane on August 20, 1949 and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2012.  Leo was first and foremost a farmer.  He worked around heavy equipment all his life.  Leo worked for Amax Coal Company at Delta Mine.     

     Leo is survived by his son, Jeffery M. Watkins and wife Linda Watkins of Harrisburg, IL; Granddaughter, Casandra Watkins of Harrisburg; Grandson, Alex Watkins and fiancé Katie Harbison of Harrisburg; Great Grand-daughter, Evelyn Patton; brother, Carl Watkins and wife Betty and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Deldia Watkins and sister Sue Gibbons.  

     Funeral services for Leo M. Watkins will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home.  Rev. Andy Greer will officiate and burial will follow in Pierson Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 2 PM, Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home.
