Leland was born on August 31, 1953 to the late Harold and Mable Beers from Harco. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, a sister Velma Shiral, and brother-in-law, Phillip Braden. Leland is survived by his wife, Beverly (Lawrence) Beers of 52 years, a daughter, Amanda (Shannon) McFarland of Thompsonville, a granddaughter, Maddie McFarland of Thompsonville, a brother Gilbert Verlile (Shirley) Beers of Galatia, a brother Harold D. Leland worked in several coal mines throughout the years, including Peabody, Will Scarlet, and Consol mines. Later in his career, he worked until his retirement at the Rush Island Power Plant in Festus, Missouri. Leland had a love for the outdoors, and spent a great deal of time crappie fishing and hunting quail and deer. He enjoyed time with his friends on the lake during fishing season, and for many years he hunted with his faithful bird dogs.
After retirement, Leland enjoyed camping and attending bluegrass festivals where he loved to cook for his friends. Those that knew him loved that he enjoyed telling stories and had a great sense of humor. Leland had a gift for serving others, and was always willing to help anyone in need.
He loved the Lord, and he and Beverly attended Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church at Poordo for many years together. He was loved by many and will be missed.
