Joy Pyle Obituary

     Joy Ann Pyle, 92 of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 7:34 PM, Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Saline Care Center.

     Joy was born on October 3, 1931 in Harrisburg to the late William Alfred & Charlotte (Smith) Barton. On August 2, 1968 she married Billy Ray Pyle and he preceded her in death on June 25, 2014. Joy was Baptist by faith and most recently attended services at Brookstone Estates. Joy loved her family deeply. She also loved dancing and would go every other Wednesday to El Ranchito in Harrisburg to listen and dance to her favorite band “Most Wanted”; she was their biggest fan. Joy also loved the Golden State Warriors and was a huge Steph Curry aka “Curly” as Joy called him. She also enjoyed camping. Joy was a people person who just enjoyed life. It was said of her that “she was a firecracker”.

     Joy is survived by her children, Connie Carpenter and husband Larry of Harrisburg; Patti Johnson and husband Rupert of Harrisburg; Greg Tanner and wife Jennifer of Marion; Allison Lloyd and husband Michael of Grovetown, Georgia; Cheryl Markus and husband Ray of Eaton, Ohio; and Billy Keith Pyle of Crete, Illinois; twelve grandchildren, Nichole Arnett of Franklin, Tennessee; Kimberly Edwards and husband Michael of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Roshia Johnson and fiancée Aaron Casteel of Harrisburg; Navarro Johnson and fiancée Megan of Florissant, Missouri; Nyma Cole and husband Kendall of Johnston City; Haley Keding and husband Jeven of Evansville, Indiana; Maddie Tanner of Marion; Jordan Lloyd of Odenton, Maryland; Chis Lloyd of Evans, Georgia; Brian Markus and wife Tonya of Brookville, Ohio; Jason Markus and wife Jill of Round Rock, Texas; and Eric Pyle and wife Carmen of Crown Point, Indiana; twenty-two great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sister, Lynda Henley of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents, and husband, Billy Ray Pyle, Joy was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Pyle; daughter-in-law, Trish Pyle; brother, Kenneth Nolen, brother, Jack Nolen, and sister, Judy Vinyard.

     Funeral services for Joy Ann Pyle will be held at 1 PM, Friday, September 27, 2024 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Brad Vinyard will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.
