Joanne (Brothers) Brown

     Joanne Brown age 88, of Harrisburg passed away on July 29, 2024 at 10:18 AM at her residence surrounded by her family.

     Joanne was born on April 14, 1936 in Harrisburg to the late James H. and Servannah Elizabeth (Dunn) Brothers. On July 29, 1950 she married Donald Eugene Brown, and he preceded her in death on November 28, 1995. Joanne was a member of the Rudiment Social Brethren Church and the Harrisburg Lion’s Club. She was a tough lady and was always there for her family. Joanne was a good mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved her family and her dog “Chole” deeply and they loved her.

     Joanne is survived by her two children, Linda Brown of Harrisburg, and Jeremy Steven Brown of Evansville, Indiana; six grandchildren, Amy Ethridge and husband Richard of Harrisburg, Tim Rister and wife Christina of Lenior, Tennessee, Matthew Brown of Harrisburg, Alexis Brown of Harrisburg, Langston Rambert of Harrisburg and Felicia Rambert of Harrisburg; five great grandchildren, Kaitlynn Rister and fiancé Tyler Morris of Galatia, Christopher Rister of Harrisburg, James Lynn and wife Rachel of Harrisburg, Amber Lynn of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Henley Rister of Lenior, Tennessee; three great-great grandchildren Harley, Hailee, and Tallulah Lynn of Harrisburg; several nieces and nephews, and best friend for 54 years, Loretta Oxford.

     In addition to her parents and husband, Donald, Joanne was preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Lynn Brown, son, Steven Brown, son, Ryan Matthew Brown, granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Brown, brother, Leroy Brothers, brother, Kenneth Brothers, sister, Opal Kassner, sister, Victoria Reeder, brother, Wilburn Brothers, and sister, Baby Brothers.

     Funeral services for Joanne Brown will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Charles Curry will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the family and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
