Jim Davidson Obituary

     Jim Davidson, age 74, of Harrisburg, passed away at 12:03 AM Monday, April 28, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

     Jim was born in Mt Vernon on June 20, 1950 to the late Rufus “RH” and Jewell (Edmonds) Davidson.  On March 28, 1970 he married Joanna Baugher and she survives.  Jim worked in the grocery business for 50 years.  He started his career at Foodland working for his dad, RH who was the manager.  Jim worked his way up to Co-Owner of Mad Pricer, where he was a partner with John Holmes.  Jim loved the Lord and his church. He was saved when he was 18 at Scott Street Baptist Church.  Jim was a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a deacon since 1983 and taught the Master Workman Sunday School class.  He was a former member of the International Order of Oddfellows at Galatia.  Jim was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping.  He loved antique cars. Jim was a big fan of Merle Haggard and a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan.        

     Jim is survived by his wife, Joanna of Harrisburg; son, Jason Davidson and wife Jamie of Harrisburg; daughter, Amy Hawkins and husband Mike of Marion; son, Brad Davidson and wife Mandi of Harrisburg; grandson, Nolan Davidson and wife Rachel of Harrisburg; granddaughter, Chelsea Davidson of Harrisburg; grandson, Max Davidson of Harrisburg; grandson, Derrick Hawkins and wife Takara of Junction City, Kansas; granddaughter, Matty Rudin and husband Kobe of Highwood, Illinois; grandson, Drew Hawkins of Barbourville, Kentucky; grandson, River Davidson of Harrisburg; grandson, Perry Davidson of Harrisburg; and granddaughter, Stori Davidson; two great-grandchildren Maxton and Colter Hawkins of Junction City, Kansas; sister, Marilyn Espinosa and husband Bill of Castle Rock, Colorado; and several special nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Summers and twin brother, Richard Davidson who was stillborn.

     Funeral services for Jim Davidson will be held at 11 AM Friday, May 2, 2025 at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.  Bro. Jeremy Bennett will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM Thursday, May 1, 2025 at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.  Memorial contributions may be made to McKinley Avenue Baptist Church Youth Group or Harrisburg First Baptist Church Youth Group and envelopes will be available at the church.
