Janet Louise (Gormley) Irwin

     Janet Louise Irwin, age 86 of Harrisburg, passed away at 10:40 PM, on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehabilitation.   

     Janet was born on February 13, 1940 in Bourbon, Missouri to the late Harold Clark and Wilma Laura (Lambert) Gormley.  On June 8, 1959 she married Joe Bob Irwin and he resides in Harrisburg.  Janet was a beautician at Elouises and worked out of the beauty shop at home for many years, she would also go to the nursing homes and many funeral homes to fix hair.  She attended Liberty Baptist Church.  Janet was a seamstress; she loved doing crafts and was a good cook.  She was a deacon’s wife, a Sunday School teacher for 35 years, and a GA leader.  Janet was constantly memorizing bible verses and loved studying the bible.  She was a loving wife, mother, and “nanny”.   

      Janet is survived by her husband, Joe Bob Irwin of Harrisburg; daughter, Anita Jo Lowery and husband, Martin of Princeton, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Kelley Shaw and husband, Matthew of Wickliffe, Kentucky; Kyle Lowery and wife, Jessy of Princeton, Kentucky; Katie Berchen and husband, Chris of Manitou, Kentucky; and Kaleb Irwin and wife, Desiree of Eldorado, Illinois; five great grandchildren, Abby, Atley, Amelia Jane, Matilda, Andrew and one on the way; sister, Rita Carlton of Springfield, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her son, Greg Irwin; son, Jeff Irwin; twin sons, Ronnie and Donnie Irwin; twin brother, James Gormley; and sister, Sharlene Knight.             
         Funeral services for Janet Louise Irwin will be held at 4 PM, on Monday, May 25, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home.  Rev. Ron Reed will officiate and burial will follow in Pierson Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM, on Monday, May 25, 2026 at Stricklin Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital and will be received at the funeral home.
