Janet Sue Foster, age 75 of Galatia, passed away at 2:30 AM, Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Jan was born on November 15, 1950 in Eldorado, Illinois to the late Jim and Rosemary (Triplett) Richey. On December 15, 1972 she married Alan Foster, and he preceded her in death on September 8, 2021. Jan attended Eastern Illinois University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education. She worked for the Galatia School District for 32 years as a Special Education Teacher at Galatia Jr. High and Elementary Schools. She was a member of Galatia First Baptist Church. Jan took her students in just like they were her own kids; she was known to them as Mrs. Jan. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and was proud of the family farm that she had grown up on. Jan loved spending time with her grandchildren to whom she was “GiGi”.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Michelle Brown and husband, Ed of Galatia; son, Jimmy Foster and wife, Ashley of Galatia; five grandchildren, Haylee Brown and fiancée, Caleb Boulds of Galatia; Seth Brown of Galatia; Ryne Foster, Della Foster and Finn Foster all of Galatia; brother, Jimmy Richey and wife, Amy of Galatia; nieces, Jessica Richey and Kayla Richey of Galatia.
Graveside services for Janet Sue Foster will be held at 11 AM, Monday, February 16, 2026 at Brushy Cemetery in Harco. Rev. Danny York will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Galatia Unit No. 1 School District Special Education Program and envelopes will be available at the cemetery.
