James Oscar Dudley, 92 of Harrisburg, passed away at 1:10 PM, Monday, August 29, 2022 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville.
James was born on December 13, 1929 in Saline County to the late Joseph “Joe” and Hattie (Sherfield) Dudley. On December 24, 1955 he married Wanda Pyles and she preceded him in death on January 13, 2022. James was a boss for Sahara Coal Company and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was also a lifetime honorary member of the Southern Hunting Club. He was a family man. He was a great husband, father and papaw. He was a hard worker and could build anything. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and St. Louis Cardinal baseball.
James is survived by a son, Jimmie Dudley of Harrisburg, four grandchildren, Meshia K. Hughes and husband Chris of Herrin; James “Jamie” Dudley of Harrisburg; JayCee Bean and husband Shawn of Eldorado, and Sherrie Frailey and husband Richard of Harrisburg; six great grandchildren, Mariah Trail and Aaron Henson of Eldorado; Ryan Williams of Herrin; Hunter Frailey of Harrisburg, Noah Frailey of Harrisburg and Sydnie Frailey of Harrisburg; and Hailee Bean of Eldorado, great grandson, Jericho D. Henson of Eldorado; sister-in-law, Connie Burnam and husband David of Jones, Oklahoma; and nephews, Ed Burnam and Jason Burnam.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda, parents, Joe and Hattie Dudley, daughter, Dianne Trail; daughter-in-law, Beverly Dudley; great grandson, Dawson; and siblings, Jack, Aaron, Sam, Billy, George, Marvelle, Mollie and JoAnn.
Funeral services for James Oscar Dudley will be held at 3 PM, Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home, formerly Reed Funeral Chapel, in Harrisburg. Rev. Mark Cockrum will officiate and burial will follow in Lindale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1PM to 3 PM, Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home.
