Henrietta Disney

     M. Henrietta “Sissie” Disney, age 79 of Carmi, formerly of Galatia, passed away at 7:48 PM, December 12, 2024 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital surrounded by her family.

     Henrietta was born on April 20, 1945 in Muddy to the late Straude and Christine (Fletcher) Ratley.  She married Richard Lee Disney on October 6, 1963 and he preceded her in death on January 8, 2018.  Henrietta was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church.  She was the Village Clerk of Galatia for 20 years.  Henrietta loved crocheting, knitting, sewing, canning and baking.  She was a very devoted wife, mother, granny and “Momma Bear”.

     Henrietta is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Walrack and husband Michael of Carmi; son, Brad Disney and wife Zoe of Troy, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Erica Hart and husband Griffin of Carmi; Jayda Disney of Troy, Tennessee; Aden Disney of Troy, Tennessee; Alex Walrack of Marion; Alyssa Walrack and fiancée Stormy Boomer of Marion; and Abbie Graham of Harrisburg; great grandson, Brennan Graham; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

     In addition to her parents and husband, Richard, Henrietta was preceded in death by two daughters, Jill Disney and Amy Disney; brother, Charles Richard Ratley; brother, Kenneth Ratley; brother, Straude Ratley, Jr.; sister, Thelma Wren; sister, Mildred Walden; sister, Mary Roberson; brother, Gene Gibson; brother, Jesse Gibson; brother, Charles E. Gibson and brother, Eddie Ratley.

    Funeral services for M. Henrietta “Sissie” Disney will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg.  Rev. James Gibson will officiate and burial will follow in Cottage Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 4 PM to 7 PM Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Stricklin Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Carmi Baptist Children’s Home, and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
