Grace Coburn Obituary

     Grace Elaine Coburn, 92 years of age, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at her home in Harrisburg, IL.

     Grace was born May 20, 1932 in DeRidder, Louisiana to the late Wilbert & Ruby (Elston) McReynolds. She was the sixth of nine children, seven of whom preceded her in death: Leonard McReynolds, Elisabeth McReynolds, Miriam Reed, Lois McReynolds, Ruby Olive Rogers, W.E. McReynolds, and Stanford McReynolds.

     She married Robert L. Coburn on June 7, 1954, and four children were born from this union. They reached the milestone of their 70th Wedding Anniversary on June 7, 2024.

After graduating in 1954 from Harding College in Searcy, AR with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a minor in Secondary Education, Grace taught elementary school for three years.                    

     After the birth of their first child, she became a full-time mother and homemaker for fourteen years which proved to be a great blessing to their daughters in teaching, training and influence. She later took on a part-time job as secretary for Downs Insurance Agency.

     During those years and beyond, Grace was a devoted and faithful preacher’s wife, loving mother and grandmother. After being baptized into Christ at the age of 12 in 1944, she served as a faithful Christian and Bible school teacher the rest of her life.

     She is survived by her husband Bob of Harrisburg, IL; daughters Barbara (& Daniel) Holt of Murfreesboro, TN; Cathy (& Paul) Mowrer of Ackerman, MS; Alice (& Max) Teehee of Searcy, AR; and Dusta (& Barry) Hatfield of Streetsboro, OH; brother David McReynolds of DeRidder, LA, ten grandchildren: Jennifer (Greg) DeMario of Murfreesboro, TN; Laura (Nathan) Thomas of Smyrna, TN; Angie (Neil) Rampy of Fairfax, VA; Valerie (Corey) Bryant of Greenville, MS; Adam (Claire) Mowrer of Harvest, AL; Benjamin (Shelby) Teehee of Mercersburg, PA; Carrie (Schuylar) Davis of Searcy, AR; Josh (Courtney) Hatfield of Missouri City, TX; Jacob (Moriah) Hatfield of Centerton, AR; Amy (Greg) Hall of Indianapolis, IN; great-grandchildren: Grant, Isaac & Aaron DeMario; Josiah & Anna Grace Thomas; Brett & Colin Rampy; Evelyn Bryant & little brother Harry expected in December; Paul Thomas Mowrer; Peyton, Ryleigh Grace & Houston Teehee; and Matthew Hatfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

     Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 23, at 10 am at the Harrisburg Church of Christ. Visitation on Sunday, September 22, from 5 to 7 pm at the Harrisburg Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of Stricklin’s Funeral Home in Harrisburg, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisburg Church of Christ or to New Pathways for Children and envelopes will be available at the church.
