George Gaskins Wright

     George Gaskins Wright, age 80, of Harrisburg, passed away at 3:57 AM, Tuesday, August 4, 2021 at Harrisburg Medical Center.

     George was born on November 13, 1940 in Harrisburg to the late Charles and Katherine (Gaskins) Wright. George was an educator and taught high school in Texas and retired from the Illinois Youth Center. He was a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion. George was also a member of Mensa International and loved to ride his Harley Davidson.

    George is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (Durfee) Wright of Harrisburg; four grandsons, Eric Wright and wife, Victoria of Lehigh Acres, Florida; Kody Wright and fiancé, Rachel of Harrisburg; Colten Foster and fiancé, Kayla of Equality; and Micah Foster and fiancé, Shelby of Pittsburg; eight great grandchildren and one more due in September; nephew John Wright of Harrisburg; and nephew, William Wright of Harrisburg.

    George was preceded in death by his parents; son, Eric Wright; and brother, Jack Wright.

     A graveside memorial service with military rites will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 1 PM at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate and burial will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
