Frances A. (Powell) Hicks

     Frances A. Hicks, age 84 of Harrisburg passed away at 12:21 PM, Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Harrisburg Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

    Frances was born on March 7, 1940 in Springfield, Illinois to the late Richard T. and Lyndell (Harmon) Powell. On January 10, 1959 she married Joe R. Hicks and he survives in Harrisburg. Frances worked as an associate for Walmart and enjoyed helping on the farm. She was a Christian. Frances also enjoyed camping and spending the winter in Texas, but she absolutely adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, they were her favorite past time.

     Frances is survived by her husband and best friend of 65 years, Joe R. Hicks; four children, Joe R. Hicks Jr. and wife Shelia of Harrisburg, Illinois; beloved daughter, Vicki Miller of Harrisburg, Illinois who helped Joe take excellent care of her; Jeff Hicks and wife Rhonda of Harrisburg, Illinois; and Jerry Hicks of Ohio; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, two sister, Patty Powell of Springfield, Illinois; and Mary Bowser of California; and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Foster, two brothers and four sisters.

     Funeral services for Frances A. Hicks will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Stan Pennell will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Stricklin Funeral Home.
