Frances Xavier Chapman, age 79, of Marion, passed away on February 26, 2024 at the Harrisburg Medical Center.
Frances was born on August 23, 1944 in Chicago to Rosella Judd. On April 2, 1965 she married William Chapman Sr and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2019. Frances was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion. She was a special needs teacher’s aide for Illinois School in Park Forest, Illinois. Frances was a care giver her whole life, she was always there for everyone. She never knew a stranger and made friends quickly. Frances would give the shirt off her back to someone she just met.
Frances is survived by daughter, Debra Belske and Stuart of Harrisburg, four grandchildren, Danette Sternberg and husband Charles of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Cassidy Kennerly and husband Terrell of Bivins, Texas, Colton Belske of Kankakee, Illinois, Abigail Riordan and husband Dakota of Kankakee, Illinois, one great granddaughter, Harlow Sternberg of Bourbonnais, Illinois, one sister, Mary Boylan and husband John of Fort Mill, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, William, two sons, William Chapman Jr. and John Chapman, mother, Rosella Judd, sister, Danette Flannagan, and brother, Frank Flannagan.
Funeral Mass for Frances Xavier Chapman will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, March 2, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marion. Father Tom Barrett will officiate and inurnment will take place at a later date in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM, Saturday, March 2, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation and envelopes will be available at the church.
