Emily Anderson

     Emily Anderson 72, of Galatia, Illinois, passed away at 4 PM, Monday, September 4, 2023 at St. Louis University Hospital.

     Emily was born February 22, 1951. Emily was the daughter of the late Charles and Edna Conwell. She was preceded by her brothers the late Charles Conwell, and the late Kenneth Conwell. Emily attended Galatia Community School where she graduated in the class of 1969. Following graduation, she attended SIC to further her education. In 1971 she married the late Henry Anderson; they had one son Randall Anderson. Emily became a rural Letter Carrier in 1976, she carried for 32 years out of the Galatia Post Office. While a rural carrier she was a cake decorator and very active member of the Illinois Rural Letter Carrier Association for the past 41 years. Emily served on several boards, and committees in the State Association, and National Rural Carriers Association. Along with that, she served on Prospect Water Board, Saline County Ag In The Classroom Foundation, and most recently The Galatia Library Board where she had an avid love for reading. As many of you know, Emily had a great passion for cooking, and taking care of others. She was Baptist by faith and saved by the blood of Jesus. She is survived by her son, Randall Anderson and his wife Jeanette and grandson, Patrick and the late grandson, Tyler Anderson. In lieu of flowers please make scholarship donations in Emily's name to the Illinois Rural Letter Carriers Association. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home. 

     Funeral services for Emily Anderson will be held at 11 AM, Friday, September 8, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Rev. Ivan Ryan will officiate and entombment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery near Galatia. Visitation will be held from 5PM to 8 PM, Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg
