Edna Lorene Walker, age 83 of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by her family.
Edna was born on November 2, 1941 in Harrisburg to the late Tom and Madge (Riley) Williams. On June 11, 1962 she married Michael Walker. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage before his passing on January 21, 2021. Edna was a published author of several books of poetry and a licensed cosmetologist who served the tri-state area for many years from her own beauty salon in Harrisburg. She enjoyed poetry, sewing and flower gardening, and was a devout Jehovah’s Witness for more than four decades and a faithful member of her local Kingdom Hall in Harrisburg. Edna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her. She was truly a gem, who exhibited all the fruit of the Spirit.
Edna is survived by eight children, daughter, Gina Apuzzo and husband, Tom of Plymouth, Minnesota; daughter, Angela Rouse and husband, James of Maywood, Illinois; daughter, Hope Greene and husband, Terry of Eclectic, Alabama; son, Michael Walker Jr. and wife, Heather of Evansville, Indiana; son, Shane Walker and wife April of Harrisburg; daughter, Miko Moses and husband, Myron of Atlanta, Georgia; honorary son, Bronston Walker and his wife Stephanie, of Harrisburg, Illinois; step-sons, Jerry Hall and wife Denise of West Virginia; and Jay Green and wife Pam of Broadview, Illinois; twenty-three grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sister, Shirley Housley of Indianapolis, Indiana; honorary brother, Kenneth Riley of Godfrey, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and husband Michael Walker Sr., Edna was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shana Jo Walker and grandson, Jordan Campbell.
Funeral services for Edna Lorene Walker will be held at 12 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Brother Joe Colon will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Stricklin Funeral Home.
